Keeping the Tradition Alive....

The North Shore Jazz Project, an initiative to revive the North Shore of Boston as a jazz mecca. It recalls the days when world class artists performed at Sandy's Jazz Revival, right on Cabot Street in Beverly. The NSJP is more than just another music performance program.

The North Shore Jazz Project will produce an hour long television series on the North Shore

MAKING A TV SERIES

The project is raising money to create a television pilot for a jazz & blues music program to be broadcast on PBS. Here NSJP's director Henry Ferrini poses for a photo with Lee Kontiz after a recent interview for a film about Lester Young.

The Show:
This hour long series combines intimate performances by world-class musicians, in-depth interviews, critiques and a segment on music history. Our host will come from the greater jazz and broadcasting community. The pilot show will be offered to cable stations in North Shore communities and offered nationally to 200 PBS through the National Educational Television Association.

The lion’s share of the show time will be devoted toward performance. What differentiates this series from other music shows is the educational component that gets wrapped around the program.

The Performance:
The show will be recorded in front of a live audience at Endicott College’s new performance center in Beverly, Massachusetts. Our educational partner for the pilot show is Beverly High School.

Distribution:
The show will be cablecast to regional cable stations on the North Shore and once we have a series of programs, the shows will be made available through National Educational Televisio Association to over 200 PBS stations throughout the country. The show will have its own website which will stream the program.
